Moroccan & Arabesque style tiles

Yesterday I got  into a conversation with a Client about the use of arabesque and Moroccan tiles as a kitchen splash back and floor covering. This conversation got me thinking about our trip to Europe last year, where we had a 24 hour layover in Doha, Qatar. This is an Arabian city off a small peninsula close to Dubai, UAE, with the highest wealth per capita, in the world. Incredible!
The exploration of the city, left us exhausted form the amazing architecture and Interior design of so many of their developed buildings, they are nothing short of inspiring - the beautiful multi-coloured lanterns everywhere you turn, the use of luxe fabrics and of course the floor and wall tiles.

You occasionally see the use of these tiles in restaurants and cafe's around Sydney, and in my experience in Bondi, the designers of La Macelleria & Pompeii's, have created an overwhelming ambiance and visual eye candy that will leave the viewer in awe.

I thought I would put together a collection of images that could look fantastic when used in a residential interior design scheme. The great thing about this selection is their versatility! Typically Arabesque and Moroccan inspired tiles project a bold use of colour and intricate pattern, but for all those neutral palette lovers, their is a subtle colour and pattern range available in Australia that can be used as points of difference as your splashback or counter top in your contemporary/ traditional kitchen or bathroom.

His work is Hollywood glamour at its finest. The use of colour, bold, abstract artwork and detailing, dramatic scale and most of all the livable comfort all of his designs possess; is what makes his work so desirable.
